Sept. 20 ‘Taste to Liberate’ event sets goal for small changes with big impact.

TORONTO – All are invited to enjoy great wine, tantalizing food, and stories of hope at the Taste to Liberate in support of Multiple Sclerosis and CCSVI research and treatment in Toronto next week.

The event, a five course meal with wine pairings is scheduled to take place on Monday September 20th, at Tappo Wine Bar and Restaurant in Toronto’s historic distillery district, is expected to be raise funds and awareness for this often labelled controversial treatment.
CCSVI, or Chronic Cerebrospinal Venous Insufficiency, is a condition characterized by the narrowing of the veins that drain the blood from the brain and chest. Although, research is not yet conclusive, there appears to be a strong correlation between CCSVI and Multiple Sclerosis. In fact, the anecdotal evidence in mounting in the MS communities, with new testimonials daily of patients “liberation” from the debilitating disease.

“We recognize that the CCSVI treatment can make a tremendous difference for those suffering from MS and we want to support the MS community in their quest for access to this procedure” said Helen Cosburn, of the Brian K. McWilliams Foundation.

The evening will also feature the musical talent of local artist, Morgan Sadler.
Money raised from the event will go to support much needed research at St. Josephs Healthcare in Hamilton, as well as two local patients in their quest for treatment now.

The Brian K. McWilliams Foundation has one more voice behind; this time the beautiful voice of  performing artist, Morgan Sadler.

Morgan Sadler is a local performing artist who’s music is hard to describe but who’s voice is hard to forget. The Brian K. McWilliams Foundation is hosting an event to raise money for Multiple Sclerosis and CCSVI Research later this month. However, Helen K. Cosburn, a spokesperson for The Foundation has added that all donations that come into the Foundation during the month of September will also go towards this incredible cause. 

Cosburn, an international healthcare consultant, brought the worth while cause to the Foundation, after working with global providers of CCSVI. As she learned more about the treatment and what it means to those who suffer with MS, she knew that she wanted to do all she could to help others gain accesss to this life changing treatment. The Foundation, whose tenents involve access to healthcare for all, has committed to help make a difference in two ways (1) by support 2 patients quest for CCSVI treatment now and (2) by support St. Joseph’s Healthcare’s research team to help ensure this treatment becomes available to all Canadians.

Dr. Paolo Zamboni

In Northern Italy, Dr. Paolo Zamboni has developed an amazing theory that would turn the diagnosis and treatment of Multiple Sclerosis upside down. Dr. Zamboni was trained as a surgeon but a rare neurological disease left him unable to operate. But when his wife, began developing the symptoms of MS over a decade ago. He began a personal mission in hopes he could find help for his wife, for fear the disease would damage her ability to ability to ambulate, communicate, see, or worse.

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) considered an auto immune disorder; where immune cells attack the nerves and brain. One of the hallmarks of the disease are the white spots that appear on brain scans; these are signs of active disease. But no one has ever conclusively proven what is the cause of MS.

MS, Iron Build-Up and CCSVI

For over a century scientists had found unusually high levels of iron in the brains of patients with MS. Most have assumed it was a by-product of the immune disorder, but Dr. Zamboni took a different approach.
